Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair
The Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair runs three days at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge foothills. Daily livestock shows for sheep and goats anchor the schedule, and attendees can enter their own animals in competition, so this is a fair where the exhibitors and the shoppers overlap. Vendors sell raw fleece, yarn, equipment, finished goods, and fiber apparel, while workshops (register in advance) and demonstrations cover spinning, knitting, weaving, and felting. The agricultural center setting keeps the livestock and the fiber arts in close proximity, and the three-day span gives the whole thing room to be both a serious livestock exhibition and a place to spend an afternoon browsing yarn with a goat show happening next door.
