Fall Fiber Festival & Montpelier Sheep Dog Trials

The Fall Fiber Festival and Montpelier Sheep Dog Trials is a two-day event held at Montpelier Station, Virginia, on the grounds across from James Madison's Montpelier. Competitive sheepdog trials run alongside the fiber programming, with Border Collies competing for the Myra Soden Trophy while shearing demonstrations and animal exhibits happen nearby. You can take classes in spinning, weaving, and other traditional fiber techniques, browse a fleece sale with raw fiber direct from producers, and enter a juried fiber arts competition. A silent auction and craft vendors round things out. Seating for the trials is limited, so many attendees bring lawn chairs and settle in to watch the dogs work.
